i know i'm working underground now
someone has to dig and that's my role
sometimes i find that it's taking all my time
and i worry that it is taking it's toll
but wait now cause i feel something coming
i'm always seeing something around the bend
i wasn't kind when i was waiting to be sanctified
and now i'm digging to make amends
i was already tired when i met you
we were both tired, maybe more for show
since then we've collapsed we let ourselves get too attached
to the idea that we would only feel so low
and i don't see you anymore
the water's four feet high and rising
i'd like to hope that the parts we liked will float
but even still i will always be revising
